Friend, I see you

Your garden is working against you because nobody told you what to put next to what.

You're doing everything right. You're watering, you're weeding, you're trying. But companion planting mistakes are silently stealing your harvest season after season.

I spent years figuring this out on our 20-acre farm in Roswell. Now I've put every single thing I know into one guide so you don't have to figure it out the hard way.

  • 🍅
Tomatoes near potatoesOne blight infection and you lose both crops within days. This combination destroys more homestead gardens than almost any other mistake.
  • 🌿
Fennel in your main gardenFennel releases allelopathic compounds that stunt almost everything around it. If it's in your main garden, your crops are silently suffering.
  • 🫘
Beans planted near onionsAlliums damage the nitrogen-fixing bacteria your beans depend on. Almost every homestead gardener makes this mistake at least once.
  • 🐔
No companion plants near your livestockThe right plants near your coop reduce mites, lice, and flies dramatically. Without them you're fighting a battle you don't need to fight.

✅ DO — Tomatoes

Plant Basil 12 Inches From Every Tomato

Basil produces linalool and eugenol — volatile compounds that physically mask the tomato's scent from aphids and whiteflies navigating by smell. Studies confirm 30 to 50% reduction in whitefly populations. It also measurably improves tomato fruit flavor through volatile compound exchange.

🚫 NEVER DO — Potatoes

Never Plant Potatoes Near Tomatoes. Ever.

Both share late blight — the exact disease that caused the Irish Potato Famine. If one crop gets it, the other follows within days. This is not a minor risk. Keep them on opposite ends of your garden always. No exception in this guide is more important than this one.

🌿 TORI'S TIP — Brassicas

Let Your Dill Bolt — It's More Valuable That Way

When dill flowers, it attracts Cotesia wasps that parasitize and kill cabbage worm caterpillars from the inside. When you see white rice-grain cocoons on a caterpillar, do NOT spray — the wasp is already doing the work for free. Plant dill near every brassica bed and let it flower.

Everything in this guide comes from our actual farm.

I run Lost Sheep Farm — a real 20-acre working homestead in Roswell, New Mexico with my husband Ryan. Every tip in this guide is something we do here. The basil rings around every tomato. The nasturtiums at the base of every cucumber trellis. The lavender hedges along the barn.

I did not write this from research alone. I wrote it from years of figuring out what works and what destroys a season on actual New Mexico dirt with real plants and real mistakes.

Questions? Got answers.

Is this a physical book or a digital download?

This is a digital PDF you receive instantly after purchase. Many customers print it at home or take it to Office Max for spiral binding — that is exactly how it was designed to be used. It lives on your potting bench or in your barn, not on a shelf.

What makes this different from free companion planting lists?

Three things. First, it covers livestock companion plants — a full section on plants for your coop, pasture, and pigs that no other guide includes. Second, every entry gives you the science in plain language. Third, the 5-box format means you can find what you need in seconds while standing in the garden.

I'm just starting out. Will this make sense to me?

Yes. The guide is written by someone who started exactly where you are. Every entry tells you what to do, how far apart, and why. No prior knowledge required. Just a garden and a willingness to try.

I don't have livestock. Is it still worth it?

Absolutely. The first five sections — vegetables, herbs, flowers, and fruit trees — are fully standalone. You're getting 5 complete sections plus reference charts for $7. The livestock section is a bonus for those who need it.

What is your refund policy?

Because this is an instant digital download, all sales are final. If you have any trouble with your download, email us and we will make it right. We stand behind everything that has our name on it.

One decision. Many seasons.

Your garden was
designed to work with you.

God designed plants to help each other. This guide helps you work with that design rather than against it. For $7 you get the reference that changes how you garden permanently.
